Clevedon Village to Tourist/McNicol Corner Path

We’re progressing investigations and planning for a new path connection between Clevedon Village and Tourist McNicol Corner, following an alignment along McNicol Road. The project aims to improve safe walking access in and out of the village while supporting the area’s growing visitor activity.

What’s Happening

The project has moved into the early planning phase, and initial concept design development has now begun.

Recent work includes:

• Early engagement with Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki, who have expressed interest in being involved from the outset
• Beginning early discussions with local landowners along McNicol Road to understand property interfaces, constraints and opportunities
• Proactively working with local community leaders and groups, including the Clevedon Community & Business Association (CCBA) and I Love Clevedon, to ensure local insights and priorities help shape the project
• Progressing the first stages of concept design, informed by site conditions, iwi values and community feedback
• Beginning to investigate a potential safe crossing connection between Clevedon–Kawakawa Road and McNicol Road to support safer movement through the village

This early work ensures cultural values, local knowledge and landowner considerations help guide the project from the start.

• Investigating a safe crossing point between Clevedon–Kawakawa Road and McNicol Road
