Hūnua Road Footpath

Project:

Footpath

Location:

Hunua Road Footpath

What’s Happening

  • Approximately 270 metre footpath is planned along Hunua Road

Timeline

  • The Franklin Local Board formally approved the project to proceed to construction at its 24 March 2026 business meeting.
  • The project is now moving into the pre‑construction stage, where the team will confirm construction details and engage the contractors needed to deliver the work.
  • Construction is expected to begin in May 2026 and be completed by the end of June 2026, weather permitting.
  • As the project progresses, the community and local businesses will be kept updated through local channels, including The Informer, the Franklin Paths Programme website, and on‑site notices.
  • Temporary traffic controls and reduced speed limits will be in place during construction to ensure the safety of the public and construction crews.

Why It Matters

  • This part of Hunua Road does not have a footpath – constructing one will allow local residents better and safer access to Hunua Village and to Cowan Road.
