Update: Liberty Crescent Pram Crossing
Auckland Council has constructed a pram crossing on Liberty Crescent as part of Connection 5 of the Pohutukawa Coast Trails from Omana Regional Park to Pine Harbour. It links Liberty Park and Te Puru Park. This is in response to community request for the connection across the road which can be used by wheelchairs.
- Accessibility: Provides a safer, higher‑quality crossing for prams and those with mobility needs.
- Construction of the pram crossing on Liberty Crescent has been completed as of January 2026.
Liberty Crescent Path
We’re improving the connection between Liberty Crescent and Liberty Park with a new 131-metre concrete path. This upgrade replaces the current gravel track, making it safer and more accessible for everyday use.
What’s Changing
• A 1.6m-wide concrete path will replace the existing gravel surface track
• Designed for walkers, cyclists, prams, and mobility users
• Connects Liberty Crescent → Liberty Park → Constellation Park
• Provides a smoother, more reliable route through local green spaces
Construction Timeline
- Construction began on this path in early October and has been completed.
Why It Matters
• Safe, all-weather access footpath for the community
• Encourages walking and cycling across the Beachlands area
• Fills a missing link in the Beachlands footpath network
• Supports Franklin Local Board’s goal for better local connections
