West Street Crossing

Project:

Crossing

Location:

West Street Crossing

We are installing a new pedestrian crossing facility on West Street. We are working with Auckland Transport to determine the best location and treatment for this crossing facility.

What’s Changing

  • A new pedestrian crossing facility will be constructed on West Street, with the exact treatment and location still to be determined.

Timeline

  • Local Board has endorsed this project to proceed to construction.
  • Work is likely to begin in Early-Mid 2026, depending on weather.
  • Expected to be completed within a few weeks of starting.
  • Any further updates or photos will be posted here.

Why It Matters

  • Our aim is to provide a safe and accessible crossing facility for pedestrians on West Street.
  • Crossings across West Street are always high due to the proximity of this street to nearby bus stops, sports fields and the nearby Pukekohe town centre.
  • No crossing facility in this area means that pedestrians are currently crossing unsafely which increases the risk of a major accident.
